Keg at Kernels new location with Matthijs, 5th September 24. Pours a black beer. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa, hops, citrus. Taste is roasted malts, cocoa, bitter, dusty, hoppy. It’s an outstanding beer

Keg at Mother Arch II, 31/07/24. Black with a lasting khaki head. Nose is rich roast, coffee, earthy dried fruit rinds, dusty hops, charr. Taste comprises cocoa powder, lightly burnt toffee, dark malts, light spice, dates, roasted bite, pine dusting. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation, light drying close underpinned with a dusty hop spattering. Solid.

Tap at the new Kernel Taproom. Pours jet black with a dirty tan head that fades a little but clings to the glass wanting to stay. Aroma is liquorice, roast malt, coffee, chocolate, a little ash, piney hop. Taste is liquorice, roast malt, ashy dryness, coffee, chocolate and piney hop. Absolute cracking beer.

Tap at the brewery taproom bermondsey arch 7. An opaque black brown coloured pour with a steadfast mid tan head. Aroma is big robust roast, waxy, piney sappy hop, liquorice, pine bark, wood. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, woody bark, pine sap, resin, robust woody roasted malts,. Palate is semi sweet, oily, airy moderate carbonation, resinous hop oils, super intense, roast and piney hop. Superb.. For 5.8% nothing has this much flavour.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from the brewery taproom. Pours black with a fluffy, billowing beige head. Medium sweet flavour with rich ashy roast, baking cocoa, citrus peel, burnt pine. Medium bodied with velvety texture and massaging carbonation. Bitter finish, more ashy dryness, bittersweet cocoa, dried orange peel. Superb.
