The other half of this IPA pair comparison project. Hopped with HBC 586, Idaho 7 and Mosaic. This is the Black IPA. We’ve replaced the wheat, oats and lighter malts with RedX, crystal malts, chocolate malts and some Carafa3. Roasty while still on the IPA spectrum.

7/8/2024. Can shared by ITFCDan, cheers. Pours clear dark hazelnut brown with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma is treacle, ash, pine, chocolate, roasted malt, tropical fruits, citrus, tobacco. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness and body. Quite smooth, soft carbonation. Very nice.

On tap at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Chestnut brown pour with a beige head. Nose is dark fruits, chocolate. Nice mix of sweet citrus, chocolate, light coffee notes. Quite dry. Malty sweet aftertaste.

Can at home, 13th April 24. Pours black. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa. Taste is citrus and pith, cocoa, roasted malts, hoppy. Decent BIPA
