Tropigamma is a tropical IPA brewed with lactose, bucket-loads of pineapple juice and mango puree in the whirlpool with the hops, and mandarin, papaya, passionfruit, guava and lime juice towards the end of fermentation (all contributing to an intensely hazy fresh fruit juice in the morning beer).

Juicy tropical fruits combine with big bold hops on the nose to lure you in with complex aromas of citrus, ripe mango and pine. The flavour is fruit driven (obviously), leading with sweet mandarin, tangy passionfruit and round mango and finishing with a satisfying hoppy, bitter bite with the addition of oats keeping the drinking experience smooth and round. This is literally a fruit explosion in a can!

Can from Cotteridge Wines; opaque light orange pour with a bubbly white head, aroma has pineapple, mango and some sweet malts, taste has dominating sweet malts, the tropical fruit action doesn’t match the aroma, muted grapefruit, some mango, light bitterness.

Can shared at the Craft beer Co tasting 24/11/2016. A milky hazed golden coloured pour with a thin white head. Aroma is big wheat and grassy, nettle, lemon. Flavour is composed of damp wheat, bile, stomach acid, grassy, bitter yeast bite. Tangy pineapple. Palate is grainy, milky, highish carbonation. Acid reflux and n the finish. 6 3 6 4 14

Can at home picked up from Bottledog KingsX. A murky yeast sludge pour, light orange tangerine coloured with a fading white head. Aroma is odd, rubber ball, spicy citrus, grassy hop and big yeast on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of earthy rounded grains, big runner and tangy bitter citrus and big yeasty bite. I still get the weird acid bite in the finish. This beer does not deliver any of the tropical flavour it advertised. Palate is medium full sticky, highish carboantion and pinch of acid in the finish.

A rare mis-step from arguably London’s best brewery. Disappointing.

330ml can @ Chez Sophie. Pours a murky orange, foamy off-white bubbles. Aroma of assorted tropical fruit mush. Taste is smooth, vaguely gloopy moderately thick exotic fruit underpinned by some unwelcome lime juice. Hard to really pick out each facet of this tropical fruit punch, certainly no definition at all. Compared to the Dugges / Stillwater fruit sour series, this falls short of the mark. Really poor.

Can shared in London - thanks to Dave. Pours soupy gold with a creamy, white head. The nose holds muted fruits, vague citrus, melon, rind, pale bread. Light sweet flavour with grainy pale bread, apricot, melon, faint mango, straw. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Messy citrus in the finish, more grainy pale bread, some grassy bitterness. Interesting, but this is not a beer joining the ranks of the modern ’juice bombs’. This is a bit messy, and just drinkable.

Can from Cork & Cask. Milky amber body with a medium off-white head. Faint lacing. Aroma of papaya and lime chutney. Flavour of green mango, lime, hop spice and a bitter, slightly metallic finish. Medium body with a watery, slick texture. Soft fizz. A fun experiment of brewing with (a ton of) fruit. A bit of a novelty beer, albeit a quality one.

A can or two at the Waterloo Tap. It pours murky dirty golden - blonde with a small white head. The aroma is rather soft, sweet, juicy, dominated by tropical fruits.....zesty, pithy, candied orange peel, papaya, mango, pineapple and um bungo. The taste is smooth, very fruity indeed, tropical fruit punch, um bungo, orange peel, kiwi, lime, mango, quite a lot of pineapple, pithy citrus and some peppery spice with a smooth finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. There is actually a sort of graininess to the mouth-feel. Dominated by fruit with actually very little beer character. Drinks way easy, but perhaps it has crossed the line of "how much fruit is too much fruit" in a beer... Didn’t stop me have a second can though.
