Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 04/02/24. Black with a fast collapsing khaki head. Nose is nutty, chocolate, dark malts, modest roast, toasted brown sugars. Taste comprises earthy roast, cocoa powder, charr, dark malts, hazelnut, ashen tones, light spice balance, dried fruit esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Okay stout if just a touch harsh overall in its execution.

20/1/2024. Can shared at CLBF/IKL. Bought direct from the brewery. Pours close to black with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is nutty, chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness, touch tart. Moderate body, slightly watery, average carbonation. A little disappointing.

On tap at Toms Tap, Crewe. Pours almost black with a large cream head and good lacing. The aroma is a general nuttiness with some hints of vanilla. In the mouth it has a creamy texture and starts off with nuts and roasted malts being prominent. After a while lactose, stale bread and some chocolate can be detected. Nuttiness remains in the finish. This is quite nice – and hides its strength well.
