20/2/2020. Cask at the Chelmsford Winter Beer & Cider Festival 2020. Pours dark brown with a bubbly off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, malt, caramel, coffee, nut, light ash and hint of liquorice. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery texture (but ok for its abv). Easy drinking stout.

Cask at Beerhouse. Black with a short tan head. Aroma is toasted coffee. Flavour is roast malt, vanilla, licqorice, a bit of ash on the finish. Gets good value for the strength.

On cask at Chesterfield Alehouse - Pitch black body, robust tan head. The nose is strong roast coffee, chocolate, liquorice and blackcurrant. There’s also a whiff of alcohol warmth that shouldn’t be there. Taste is as the nose, only the body reminds you that it is only 4.3%. Surprised with this.
