Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 12th March 2025. Almost impenetrably black with brown foam affording spot lacing. Rich roasty malt aroma. Coffee, bitter chocolate and sour berry notes in-mouth and a lush finish of spiced roastiness. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Superb.

Keg at the Chelmsford Craft Beer Festival. Opaque black brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thinnish and slightly toasty dark malts. Modest vanilla intersects and provides a little chocolate. A light and mildly savoury finish. Fine, needs a bit more welly.

26/2/2022. Can shared with the ITFC boys at the Morecambe tasting. From Hopsters, Chelmsford. Pours black with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, berries, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, light ash. Moderate sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness, touch of tart. Medium body, slightly creamy, average carbonation. Enjoyable.
