30/12/2021. Bottle bought directly from the brewery. Pours black with a long last tan coloured head. Aroma of liquorice, dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, coffee, treacle. Moderate sweetness, deep roasted bitterness. Medium to full body, smooth sticky texture, average carbonation. Intense brew, and my favourite of the ones I got from them.

500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and minimally caramel malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, hints of dark caramel, some coffee, a touch of treacle and liquorice. Taste is slightly bitter roasty, minimally ashy, chocolately, dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, hints of couverture, a touch of blood, iron, liquorice, some hop bitterness as well; lingering, bitter roasty, minimally ashy finish. Creamy, watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying, simultaneously minimally repellent palate, fine and soft carbonation. Relatively light, quite bitter - good.

On cask at Coach and Horses, Dronfield - Dark red tinged black body, off-white head. Nose has lots of burnt chocolate and fruity berry notes. Taste very smooth, full of flavour, and not overpoweringly strong.
