Evoking a sense of Dunkel’s cocoa’d great uncle, our Baltic Porter collaboration with Pinta has been allowed to slumber for the last 11 months in Port and Marsala barrels. It unfolds on the palate through a combination of chocolate covered sour cherries, goji berries, and chrysanthemum infused coffee.

375mL bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Dark chocolate, vanilla, gentle roast, and dark fortified wine on the nose. Flavour has dark chocolate, a dark cherry-like character, more dark fortified wine. There's not a whole lot of roast going on, but the barrel treatment is very nice so it does have decent complexity. On the light side, but very enjoyable.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Near opaque dark brown beer, small and short lived tan head. Fairly light palate, a very mild dryness, decent fine carbonation. Smooth and fairly mellow dark malts, both in flavour and mouthfeel. A modest dark chocolate. Decent if not inspiring Tawny port ripe fruits on the back half. Touch of vanilla oak barrel. The mildly spicy finish draws out dates and a tiny bit of Marsala sticky fruity sweetness. Nice idea but the Marsala element could have been bolder for me, still a very pleasant quaff.
