Oaxacan begins as an amber sour ale brewed with smoked wheat malts. It’s then laid to rest in Pink Tequila Barrels (red wine barrels used to age Tequila, lending a softer spirit character) with grapefruit and lime zest. When Oaxacan reaches its its peak complexity, it’s blended onto additional grapefruit to lend fresh citrus essence.

On tap at Wicked Weed Funkatorium, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma is complex, with subtle smoke, lots of tequila barrels, and some citrus zest. Flavour is wonderfully unique and complex, with smoky tequila barrels upfront, with some wild yeast and light citrus zest. Wonderful barrel aging here. Integrated and complex. Excellent.

Keg at Bottle Shop. It pours cloudy orange with a small white head. The aroma is tangy, sour, musty, tangy orange, tangerine, grapefruit, lime, vanilla, oak, Tequila and dust. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, grapefruit, limey, tangy, sour, blood orange, bracing acidity, earthy, dull smoke, earth, sherbet, wood, dull smoke, vanilla, touch of alcohol and tannin with a tangy, tart finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Proper bonkers, but someone works.

Nice sour flavor with a citrus taste at the end.. I could not really taste any tequila flavor but this was a good, flavorful sour.

Bottle at MC Zurich, bottled on 12/18/2015. Pours cloudy amber with a low head. Aroma is barrel, funky yeast, light smoke, citric fruit. Body is medium, vinegary, sour and tart, with a fizzy carbonation. Boozy palate, still sour and fruity. A bit over the top and unbalanced.
