Cask at the King’s Head, Norwich. Mid to dark brown... actually mid-dark to dark brown, translucent with a big loose beige-tan head.slight aroma of chocolate and oak chips. Lovely sweet malty taste. Shirt finish. A bit of fudge brownie on the aftertaste. I like it although it is a bit one-dimensional.

Cask at the Three Johns, 04/10/16. Rich mahogany brown with a decent light tan head. Nose is toffee, brown sugar, biscuit malt, cocoa powder. Taste comprises brown sugar, cocoa powder, earthy fruit notes, raisins, icing sugar, light spice, roasted tones. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a light hop bite. Decent for the humdrum style that is brown ale!

Cask at the New Leathern Bottle, Jealotts Hill. A cola coloured pour with a ring of cream head; earthy aroma; a sweet nutty malt taste; then a earthy finish with some stewed plums adding a touch of spice. A pleasant malty beer.

30th June 2015: cask half-pint in The Rocklands Club, Redditch. Smooth beige head to the ruby hued dark brown body: plenty of lacing from the head and the whole brew was smooth and rich. Malts all the way here, chocolaty, yet there is a hop content just below the surface to balance out too much sweetness or maltiness. Good.
