Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten began as Golden Rye Pale Ale, part of a series of beers that explored the use of rye malt at our pub, the Eccentric Café. With wonderfully bitter citrus notes, resinous hop aromas and earthy overtones, this dry-hopped Pale Ale doesn't leave a lot of room for you to wonder if you'll love it.

Bottle. Golden in color with a smallish head. Aroma and taste is a little on the spruce side.

Even if I would quit drinking, I would still probably go to 504 to see the cute ginger with the beard. So freaking cute. Happy Friday y'all!

This is the kind of beer that just does it for me. Nothing remarkable about it, just clean, dry, crisp, mild hoppiness (a little peppery, some resin). Perfect light but not thin mouthfeel. Golden, light hazy. Big foamy head.

12 ounce bottle. Honey gold pour. Large frothy beige head. Grainy malt nose has earthy, citrusy notes. Sharp citrusy hop notes upfront are balanced by a crisp spicy malt base. Hints of lemon peel and mustard seed in middle. Bitter hop finish. Well balanced and tasty.

Bottle poor into shaker pint glass from The Beer Store, Nashua. Appearance is murky orange with pulpy dark floaties, nice sparkle, 2-finger beige foamy head with decent retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is as described--dank, resinous, milder citrus with late cardboard. Taste is as aroma with rye and late cracker malt backbone. Palate is light body with thin, smooth texture, mild alcohol warmth, lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, as advertised. Pretty West Coast-y and not what I'm after these days. If you're into WC IPA then you might enjoy but I wish I'd skipped.

Bottle. A- Rye, bread dough, subtle citrus. A- Golden orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Rye, malt, grassy, black pepper, mild bitterness, subtle lemon. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly sharp finish. O- Interesting stuff. Lots of rye malt and some peppery notes. A touch resinous and only a very little bit of citrus. Not bad, but maybe a tad too earthy for me.
