Catching up on some paper ratings. Sample courtesy of Grumbo. Cheers. Aroma of fruit, biscuit, veg, slightly metallic, malty with a bit of caramel. Taste again had hints of metallic, vegy and off fruit. Quite watery. Not really for me.

Cask at the Grantham Beer Festival 2021. As Zest Newton's Drop. Pours clear amber brown with a frothy white head. Good looking beer. Aroma of manure, stewed fruits, biscuit, malt, boiled veg. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slightly watery, soft carbonation. Earthy finish. Improved a bit on initial impressions but wasn’t great.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford – as Zest Newton’s Drop. Pours the classic “bitter brown” with a small foamy off-white head. There are malts and nuts in the nose, but not very strongly. Taste is the usual standard bitter offerings of caramel, malts and toffee, all with an off-putting metallic undercurrent. Finish is pretty dry with that metallic edge lingering. Not too keen on this one.
