Hogan’s Vintage Perry (5.4% abv) is a medium, lightly sparkling perry, champagne like in colour, well balanced on the palate with subtle fruit tannin qualities and delicate fruit aromas.
A classic perry in every sense of the word, Hogan’s use only 100% English perry pears to produce their Vintage Perry. The perry pears are treated with kid gloves, every one is harvested by hand and gently washed to ensure the best quality. Perry pears are unpalatable to eat due to their high tannin level but create a delicious, delicate drink. The pears contain a natural, unfermentable sugar, sorbitol, which gives the perry some of its residual fruit sweetness. As with our ciders we do not add any sugars prior to fermentation and we do not use any concentrate, we ensure that all our perry contains more than 85% perry pear juice in order to bring you the authentic taste of the English Pear Orchard.

Bottle 2014 vintage. Practically clear golden body with a thin film of white head that disappears immediately. Fine, soft aroma of both pear and apples, slightly hint of wood. Flavor is sweet and slightly tart apple cider with mild pear juice, some notes from cellar but not really any wood in the flavor. Fine body and good aftertaste. Very smooth and nice, fine balance between sweetness and acidity, may go well to rustic food. Perry is not my favorite cider style, but this one might be one of the best I have tasted.

Bottled. A very light yellow perry with a fast disappearing white head. The aroma has notes of pears and lemon. The flavor is sweet with notes of pears, butter, lemons, and funk, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle from Pownalls Food Shop at Stratford Garden Centre, Warwickshire. Urine coloured with a light fizz. Light in body and taste, fresh and floral with a little sweet apple juice (didn't get any pear). Straw comes through with a hint of tannin. Very dry finish with a waft of bitter apple skins. Enjoyable and easy to drink, but definitely a bit on the light side.
