Bottle. Dark brown with a thick tan head and some lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, slight molasses, actually a little weak in the nose. Flavor is smoky roasted malt, coffee, bitter cocoa, and an acidic note. Medium bodied.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with medium dark tan head. The smell is hefty roasted malts, with notes of burnt toast, caramel, coffee and bitter chocolate. There are also hints of saltwater and spices. The flavor is well balanced sweetness and bitterness, with a surprising sour flavor. The palate is smooth and thick, and slightly acidic. An unusual porter, and very tasty.

Poured from 12 oz bottle. If you’re looking for a good, solid, straight up porter you should enjoy this one. Aroma is a wonderful combination of coffee and chocolate. Appearance is a very very dark brown with a very thin head. Taste is very balanced, smooth, and delicious.

bottle, pours dark brown, mocha head. Aroma, chocolate malt, caramel, nice roast. flavor, chocolate malts, some grains, caramel, finishes with a mild hop presence adding a tad of bitterness and freshness

(bottle) dark brown colour, almost no head; initial light longan aroma followed by malts; light malty flavour; slight bitter finish. After excellent Bells stouts I am quite disappointed with it, too watery and light on taste for me.

Aroma: Roasted aroma, burnt malts, chocolate, and coffee
Appearance: Dark brown color, wispy tan/light brown head
Flavor: Dark malt flavors, some sweetness, lightly bitter finish
Palate: Full bodied brew, fizzy carbonation, somewhat chewy mouthfeel
Overall Impression: My old rating was a little vague, so I thought a fresh rating was in order for this one...
I liked this beer almost as much this time. Solid stuff. Something about it made me want to lower the score just a touch, but not much. I'll leave it at 3.6 for now, so just a drop lower, a nice Porter.
