Deep Mahogany in colour. Full bodied with a beautiful aroma of vanilla, hints of chocolate, toffee, and smoke on the nose. Flavour of dark fruits, toasted oak with cherry notes and a sweet malty finish. Drink this beer with caution or else prepare to be led seriously astray. Deceptively strong and smooth, this beer has subtle dark fruit notes with a little hint of chocolate & liquorice and with a generous hop character all of which has been enhanced by the 6 months ageing in Dingle Whiskey Bourbon casks.

Bottle at Cardinal. Dark brown/Black colour with a beige head. Aroma is boozy, roasted malt, chocolate, licorice. Flavour is alcohol,apple, hop, caramel, boozy, roasted malt, chocolate, licorice. Full body. Nice beer, but also too boozy.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn, (purchased directly from shop 27th Dec’) consumed at Lynn & Barrys, Merton, Oxon, Wednesday 31st December 2014 Pours dark, dark brown with slim creamy head. Quite potent, in fact lets no bugger about its pretty boozy. Heavy cloying bitterness a little harsh on the edges, its almost like a Black IPA/Barley wine combo’. An interesting beer but I guess the strength ensured this was never quite gonna be as expected. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle. Black beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is very malty with spiced port like qualities, and the flavour is very roasted, malty and port like with heavy bitterness at the finish. Overall a very nice strongly roasted and malty beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours black with a thin beige head. Aromas of cooked oranges, light sweet booze, dark sugar. Taste is more oranges, bourbon, liquorice. Sweet finish, oily texture, good.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - opaque black with a nice cream to fawn head. Nose - somewhere between marmalade and liquorice. Taste - orange barley sweets. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big boozy middle section which gradually tapers to a satisfying finish. Overall - it tastes like a barley wine. Not a black ipa.

Bottle at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to Kenwold, 24/06/14. Dark mahogany brown with a moderate light tan covering that dissipates to spotting and edgework. Nose is pine, liqourice, Ba woody effect, spice, light booze, dates and prunes - dark fruit elements. Taste comprises barrel aged whisky pangs, liqourice, booze, dark fruits, stewed prunes, dark red berry fruit. Full bodied, fine carbonation, boozey warming rush in the close. Decent enough strong CDA, not particularly true to style but tasty enough and drinks well below the ABV.

Bottle, at Cardinal. An almost black one, unclear, and topped by a minimal sized light beige head. The aroma has a boozy touch, with roasted malts, dark chocolate and some licorice. It’s full bodied and warming, with dark chocolate notes, black coffee and salty licorice. Very warming on the palate actually. Lasting finish with roasted malts, licorice and coffee grits. Overall, it’s way too alcoholic, but at the same time very nice. 140726
