Once upon a time a man walked into a bar where a friend of ours was tending the taps. He tried to order an Eagle Claw Fist, but got it wrong and asked for an Evil Crawfish. When we heard the story, after much laughter, we knew one day we’d make the beer. Finally, here it is, built off of ECF, but cleaner, meaner, less bitter, and dry-hopped with Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin.

Bottle: Pours sort of a murky, amber-red with a small beige head. Berry, caramel, pineapple aroma. Flavour is slightly peppery, caramel malt, tropical fruit. Earthy and dank hop bitter... Pretty nice....amazingly easy drinking.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell during the "Cupzilla Korean BBQ & Double IPA Showcase" on 04/01/2016. Hazy copper color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing. The aroma consists of tropical fruit, hops and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of resiny hops, grapefruit and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

Dude, had this at industry, robinson. Slight hop aroma with a darker pale like light iced tea color. Quite strong and almost bitter. Then the fruity thang comes thru int he end. Long bitter near medicinal finish. Certainly not impressed.

Crisp copper and light amber coloured body with a thinnish tan head, about two centimetres tall. Aroma of earthy hops from Europe with a good rye and grain smell along with a bit of caramel, nuts and metal with some alcohol burn as well. Medium-bodied; Very bitter up front from some noticeable earthy and toffee malt coupled with some hops and metal, but the pungency from the deep hops is the strongest. Aftertaste shows a bit front-loaded with the hops and malt hitting equally then leaving almost nothing right behind - fairly mild after the initial deep flavours. Overall, a decent beer, but nothing special - a lot of hops and malt battle up front, but nothing great and perhaps a bit funky with the deep metal, specialty grains and earthy hops. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from The Perfect Pour in Elk Ridge, Maryland on 19-February-2016 for US$6,99 sampled at home in Washington on 31-March-2016.

22 ounce bottle. Copper color with a large rocky beige head. Clinging lace. Fragrant citrus hop nose. Sweet caramel malt flavor. Bittersweet tropical fruit comes in midtaste. Dry dusty pepper in finish. Notes of cardamom and mace coming down fast, but don’t let them break ya. "Narry a trace of crawfish throughout". Oh well!

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/20/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, papaya, lemon/orange zest, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky, and lightly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome imperial red IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
