Inspired by successes of California Pro Brewers at the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup in the American IPA & Double IPA categories and brewed by Pat McIlhenney of the Alpine Beer Company, this is what San Diego brewers like to call a California IPA. According to Harold Gulbransen of QUAFF, "Pat, a San Diego County fire captain (when not brewing beer), is a great brewer and supporter of homebrewing. He has been a long time member of QUAFF and an overall great guy. This beer will not be a Double IPA, but more like an American IPA... a bit more "quaffable." Pun intended

Courtesy of TampaBrew. Pours deep gold with thin white head. The aroma is big bold citrus goodness with oranges, tangelo and grapefruit mixing with a solid malty sweetness. The taste is refreshing with citrus hop flavor running slowly into hop bitterness and sweet malts in the background. I would have no problem drinking this every day. Another amazing SD-County IPA!

Bottle. Golden amber beer with a thin light cream colored head. Nice grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor with light summer fruits. Medium-plus bodied. Good bitterness. Pine resin and grapefruit linger with the pine getting bigger.
