From tap at the brewpub. Pours pitch black with a small tan head, nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark roasted malty, vague liqourice note. Smooth mouthfeel. Nice roasted and dark liqourice toffee like base flavour. Mild bitterness to vague acidic note into the finish.

Draft on Nitro. Brown-black beer with a tan nitro head. Sweet malt and chocolate aroma with light roast and just a bit of backing smoke. Sweet malt and chocoalte flavor with a hint of lactose. Medium bodied. Easy drinking. Big dark chocolate lingers with sweet malt and light caramel. Nice.

On tap @ the brewpub. Pours dirty brown with mocha head and spotty lacing. The aroma seems to be chocolate, black licorice, roasted malts and molasses. The taste has an initial pulse of earthiness and chocolate malts. It seems a bit like a chocolate brownie for a moment of two. I then get black licorice mixing with faint lactose notes just beyond midway. Toward the finish chocolate notes take this puppy to closure. It starts a bit disjointed but ends very very nice.
