Here’s a cool bit of info: South Africa is growing some stellar hops these days. Our Gumboots IPA is hopped with three of these unique, tasty and damn nose pleasing hops: Southern Passion, African Queen (formerly J-17) and XJA436. You cannot get an IPA like this anywhere Stateside!

On tap at Caps & Taps. It pours a lightly hazed yellow color with a white head. The aroma has apricot skin and peach. Lots of stone fruit with hints of cream and citrus. The flavor has some creamy apricot, coconut, light grass and a light piney bitter finish. Dry and light bodied. So good.

The beer is a light tannish yellow. It’s fairly hazy but still transparent. Medium white head. Not much lacing. The aroma has an interesting and unusual hop character. Lime peel, tangerine, sweet tangerine juice with no acid, rose, grape. Hard to describe. It’s sweet with a spicy edge. Moderate bitterness in the taste. Very light crackery malt flavor. Some bland bitterness in the finish, pine resin and whatnot. Very light feel. More interesting than good for my taste.
