Cask at Crown Hotel, Nantwich. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a medium sized tan head and good lacing. There’s malts and cherries in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet but with some underlying hints of sharpness. Red fleshy cherries are the main flavour alongside roasted malts. Hints of apples and toffee come through later leading to a slightly dry and fruity finish. This is rather nice – the cherries don’t dominate too much.

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear reddish dark brown colour with a thin, broken off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, light cherry. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, dry, light tart cherry, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Nicely balanced and the cherry is nice and subtle all the way through and not tart and overpowering as I was expecting.
