Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a slightly hazy “Bitter brown” with minimal off-white head but good lacing. There’s malts and biscuits in the aroma. Malts again in the mouth where it is quite bitter. Plenty of traditional hops too, along with some underlying hints of summer fruits. Later on there are traces of spice, cloves and oranges. Finish is quite bitter. This is decent – plenty of flavour for its strength.

Cask at the brewery. Poured a crystal clear copper colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is big malt. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a rich malt, earthy, nutty, herbal, woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
