Bottle from Spar, Ordrup. golden, huge head. mild pleasant malty aroma, sort of like a biere de garde. Flavor is malty sweet with a bit of flowery sweet notes sort of as if honey were used, then some herbal bitter balance that is sort of matching the rest, although that is a near impossible task, the rest of the beer is nutty malty sweet to a point where it's hard to come back as an IPA. I had an ipa from the same brewery with the same color label, but on their other marketing label - that one was even more malty and even less hoppy and that did not work at all. This one, however, must be a different batch, the malts are more like the malts in a really good double-ipa west coast style and the hops are trying but failing to build on that. So i'm a bit in-between with this one.. it's going in the right direction, but something is not quite as it should be. I think this recipe could be a good starting point for a really good double IPA.
