Pretty interesting beer, you don't see a lot of dry stouts coming from US craft brewers anymore. But as that trend died off I was OK with it because of the vast majority were really bland and insipid, and always served on nitro to make it worse. This beer is nitro too, but the real twist is that since it is not on draught (no sparkler) and Guinness owns the patent on the widget, then this beer does not end up flat in the glass! The gas remains in solution giving it a sufficient effervescence. Nose and flavor are just full of dark and bitter chocolate. Some coffee and roasted malt notes are there too but the cocoa is the real story here. Light to medium bodied, more balanced than dry (maybe semi-dry) gives this some heft. Def one of the better dry stouts I've had in a long while.

Pours mahogany tinged cola into an English pint. Mocha head crackles and recedes leaving no lacing. Chocolate covered pit fruit aromas. Soft with sweet golden syrup and cocoa upfront turning thin and dry in the medium length cola and licorice finish.
