Pours deep black into an English pint. Mocha head with little retention crackles as it recedes to nothing. Date and cocoa aromas. Thin with sweet licorice, dark chocolate and espresso upfront turning to chocolate syrup in the medium length finish.

Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer & Chili festival. Appearance is very dark brown (almost opaque) with light sparkle at the edges of the glass, thin ring of light brown head. Aroma is lactose, roasted malt, vanilla and chocolate--not a lot of coffee. Taste is nice roasted malt toward ashy side, chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, surprising lack of coffee and, while the mouthfeel feels really good, it seems both a both thick and overcarbonated for the style. Still, enjoyable.

Not a bad beer this. Pours nice and dark with a dark mocha head. Roasty aroma and flavor, lightly coffee and not much chocolate, mostly a fine example of a stout, particularly a milk stout which is not my favorite.
