Notch turns thirteen in May, and we once again have a special Czech-style lager for you to enjoy. For our anniversary beers, we typically focus on the processes that make Notch unique, and while we have done that yet again, this pale lager is differentiated by the fermentation. We used a Czech yeast once used by the brewery that first popularized pilsner, and while it's a bit different from Notch's house lager yeast, we love the honey esters it displays, as well as the big bready character it helps showcase. As with most Czech lagers, you would never call this pale lager "crisp." It has a full malt flavor, yet infinitely drinkable, and finishes with a lingering hop bitterness. Triple decocted, open fermented, naturally carbonated and maturated in horizontal lagering tanks forever.

Pours clear gold into a shaker. Bright white head conglomerates as it actively recedes leaving no lacing. Lemon iced cookie, hay and meadow aromas. Crisp with mild banana bread and lemon upfront turning to bitter earthy pith in the dry, lasting finish.
