Cask @ White Hart Tap, St Albans. Yellow-blonde lager with a low carbonation. Pleasant, nothing special, but not offensive.

Keg at the Red Lion, Amblecote. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is sweet lemon and corn. Taste is corny and gassy with a bready finish. Pretty good as pale lagers go.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; labelled as Organic Helles but pretty sure it’s the same lager, clear straw yellow pour with a frothy white head, aroma has some citrus and butterscotch, taste has sweet malts, a hint of lemon.

Tap at the Birmingham Beer Bash 2013. Poured a crystal clear light straw colour with a broken white head. The aroma is big malt leading to a medium bitter flavour with a crisp, malty, yeasty palate and a smooth refreshing light bitter finish. As lagers go, this one really isn’t bad at all.

Aroma: Slightly metallic and grainy with light honey notes.

Appearance: Pale golden body with a delicate, bubbly white head. Very lively carbonation. No lacing.

Taste: Sweet caramel and metallic - not great.

Palate: Thin body with a watery texture. Fizzy carbonation.

Overall: Not the best - could barely finish the bottle. Very sweet and metallic.
