(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 26 Nov 2016) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate and a touch of rum. Malty, roasted taste with notes of strong sweet coffee, chocolate, rum, liquorice, a touch of tamarind and a balanced roasty bitterness in a warming, sweetish finish. Full body, quite sweet. Tasty and warming. Very nice.

Pigs Ear Day 1. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, decent pale tan head. Palate is a little viscous, decent fine carbonation. Rich dark malts, salty licorice. Mild dried coffee. Tangy dark fruits. Savoury caramel. Light semi dry finish. Salty dark malts linger on. Rich but more Impy Stout than Barleywine.

Cask Gravity at Pig’s Ear 2015. It pours murky brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, earthy, decent roast, charred wood, lemon sherbet, tangy dark fruits and a touch of apple pie. The taste is bitter-sweet, sticky, umami, toasted wood, Rocky Road, dark fruits, chocolate, oily, chewy malt and light acidity with alcohol warmth through the finish. Medium - full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Big and boosty. Punchy, but I like it.
