Citrus IPA brewed with Kumquats

This cloudy-orange beer is the taste of liquid summer sunshine. Refreshing kumquat immerses the palate with citrus and tropical fruit, while biting hops interplay with bready malt. A touch of acidity from the kumquat zest finishes things off with a smile and wink. Whenever you find yourself yearning for those hazy summer days and warm electric nights, here you will find solace.

Golden colour with thin soapy head. Aroma and flavour have some sweet yellow fruits. Low bitterness at first but it grows in the finish.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours fairly transparent gold with persistent white foam, fine. Aroma is citrus and with some fruitiness. Body is pretty dense, with moderate carbonation and quite some alcoholic feeling. Taste has a good bitterness, but also with good underlying sweetness. Finish is just a little longer than average.

bottle - Pours cloudy orange with a mild, citrusy aroma. The flavor is sweet and fruity with some hops apparent, but the bitterness is very low for an IPA. I had to re-check the label to make sure that's the style they're calling it. Nevertheless, it's a decent beer.

Hazy orange under a small lingering fluffy white head that leaves some lace. Nose is citrus with Kumquat being the focus along with orange peel , yeast, wheat and grass with some light mineral notes. Flavour is follows with a light sweet base for a moderate citrus bitterness. Mouth is medium and slick with average carbonation and a slow fading bitter finish. Nice. 7+/4/8/4-/15

From a 31ml bottle on 7/5/017. Pours a hay orange golden with not much head. The nose is very fruity, with citrus, stone and tropical all in the mix. The flavour begins with lots of sweet citrus, which is quickly met by a very strong, distinctive, resiny, slightly puckering bitterness, with some grapefruit present. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I can’t say i’ve eaten a kumquat before but this makes me want to try one. Love the balance here. A terrific and unusual IPA.

Bottle. Somewhat hazy gold with a white head. Aroma of honeyed tenor-register citrus, bread. Some grapefruit. Brooding. 7+ Quite sweet with bread and that toffeeish citrus you get from marmalade. There’s a lean towards dry and a building bitterness as the end approaches. I like the way it gradually grips towards the end. Bottled in Oct 16, but seems not too old. Deep rather than vibrant.

11.5oz bottle. Antiquated caramel malt IPA base. Big kumquat puree or something notes. I mistook this as a Berliner Weisse, otherwise I might have passed on it for age reasons. Full bodied. Decent depth. OK.
