Ein IPA mit Kumquats - was kann da schon schiefgehen. In meiner Naivität erwartete ich mir ein gemütliches IPA mit einem netten fruchtigen Kern. Nach dem ersten Schluck beschloss ich dann mal nachzulesen, was so eine Kumquat überhaupt ist; nämlich eine kleine Orange, die mit Schale gegessen wird und durch seinen sauren Geschmack bekannt ist. -Das erklärt schon mal den bitteren und sauren Kern, den dieses Bier auszeichnet. Mir persönlich ist es aber zu bitter, dawohl eher die Schale des Obstes als das Fruchtfleisch zu Wort kommt. Für Freunde von bitteren Bieren, deren Bitterkeit nicht vom Hopfen kommt.

Bière bue à l'auberge de jeunesse de La Malbaie. Jolie couleur blonde orangée lumineuse et voilée à la fois, avec du dépôt dans le fond. Jolies bulles fines et nombreuses. Nez typique d'une ipa, sur les agrumes et les fruits tropicaux. En bouche, agrumes, fruits tropicaux, malt rond et très belle amertume. Le kumquat lui donne vraiment une petite note originale qui la rend unique.

(Bottle) Hazy golden colour with frothy, white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of passion-fruit, grapefruit, honey, bread and floral hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, white bread, passion-fruit, grapefruit, apricots, honey, floral hops and a balanced citric, piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness.Tasty and well made, with lots of citrus and tropical fruit. Very nice.

341ml bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, orange peel, very spicy and herbal, loads of coriander. Taste is the same, citrusy, orange, peel, herbs and spices especially coriander, yeasty, bittersweet with a lingering bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. It's not bad but I feel like I am drinking a different beer to everyone else, I don't think kumquats are supposed to be this spicy.

Közepes, tartós hab, narancsos szín. Narancsos, narancshéjas, fűszeres illat. Narancsos, narancshéjas ízek, markáns zöldfűszeres aromákkal. Közepesen testes, közepesen szénsavas és keserű. Kellemes, a kumquat jellegzetes ízét jól kidomborító IPA.

Draught @ Helst. Golden color, slightly hazy. Rocky white head. Aroma's: peardrops, grainish. Retronasal about the same, sweetish. Flavor is moderate bitter, moderate sweet, fruit. Medium bodied. Quite bitter finish. A bit disappointing.

On tap at Taproom, Madrid. Pours cloudy golden with medium white head. Moderate hoppiness, some citrus, malty, soft texture, somehat sweet with light bitterness in finish. Medium bodied.
