Hand-pulled cask ale, half-pint, shared with Finn. Black in the glass, some patchwork on the surface, dotted spots on the glass. Nicely roasted, mid-sweet chocolate malts on the nose. Fine malt-driven taste of milk chocolate, dark bread and a distant note of black coffee. Slightly roasted, semi-sweet chocolate malty finish. Like it.
Third session at the 44th Liverpool Beer Festival, Metropolitan Cathedral Crypt.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 3rd August 2024. Deep sepia brown with pale tan shallow foam and spot lacing. Roasty malts aroma. Roasty in-mouth with notes of bitter chocolate, as is the finish. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Keg at Indie Craft Beer, Kendal. Black with a tan head. Smooth chocolate up front, espresso comes through. Mild roastiness in the finish. Maybe a little bit lightweight, but still an easy-drinking, well-balanced stout.

Can. Nose is roast, malty, slightly creamy. Taste is roast, burnt toast, malt, leading to a fruity smooth dry finish with tobacco. Really like this a lot.

Black with lasting thin head. Aroma and flavour have loads of heavily roasted malts. A little burnt toast. Bitter and moreish.
