Phillips was born in 2001 to a pile of credit card debt and the audacious principle that quality ingredients, attention to detail, and a little creative flair can produce great beer. Over the past 10 years we’ve done many things: changed addresses, survived a flood, and even used a blue truck to shape metal into a kettle. However, our commitment to crafting quality beer has remained at the heart of everything we do; that commitment will never change.
We are keen believers that hoppy beer = happy beer and, in that light, our 10th anniversary brew smiles away with that special blend of bitter that has defined so many of our favourites offerings. Only Canadian malts were used in crafting this beverage, much like how only Canadian spelling was used in the construction of the previous sentence. In the end, we think of this beer as a tribute to all of the hops that have lent a helping hand over the last 10 years like Zeus, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, and Amarillo; the’re proof that sometimes bitter friends are best.

3L double magnum shared generously by uhlan and chinesehercules (thanks!). Not much point mirroring manuchampions' commentary on the marketing / packaging, so I'll let his review express my thoughts on that. Stupid marketing gimmick / "joke". The beer pours a cloudy golden yellow with a white head. Aroma is very hoppy with intense citrus and piney hops, and a little Belgian yeast to be detected. Flavour is very piney and yeasty, at least initially, hinting at a Belgian cross. Lots of piney depth balanced by just enough bready malts to keep this in balance. The pine really coats the palate after drinking more, with little bitterness surprisingly and subduing the yeast traits. ABV is not noticeable at all. Despite the marketing gimmick, this is wonderful, so my rating reflects the beer only. It's a shame that Phillips' best beers (from my perspective) are their anniversary IIPAs that never see the light of day again after the one-time release.
