Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color with tan compact head. The aroma is very mild, there is some cardboard and roasted malt. It has a good body strength, the mouthfeel is round, moderately sweet; strong flavor of roasted malt, some dark chocolate, a touch of roasted nuts and liquorice, and a tiny thing in the final that could be the barrel.
The whiskey is not very evident, for the rest, it’s a very solid beer.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is similar to the original Pothole Filler we all love, with notes of oak and whiskey, and a solid roasted malt backbone still characterizing the nose. Flavour is much fruitier than the regular base beer, with notes of cherries and other red berry fruits, along with roasted malt and wood. Not really any whiskey or oak flavour at all, but rather a strong fruitiness that makes me think this was a cherry imperial stout or something along those lines. Good stuff, but I prefer the regular Pothole Filler.

Nicely done. Adds a good level of distinction to the regular pothole filler. Barrel evens out some of the syrupy sweetness and adds a little astringency. Some nice chocolate in aroma and some nut. Pours black with carpet lacing and good head. Nice bitter finish with some notes of vanilla. This version really works well. On tap at St. Augustine’s.
