On nitro tap at Brouwer's Caf for Big Wood '12. Firstly, this is a fucked up idea - a blueberry pale ale, aged in whiskey barrels and then nitro'd. WTF?? Anyway… pours a very dirty, murky dark amber with a medium creamy off-white head from the nitro. Weird aroma of blueberries upfront that seem like they've been liquefied with whiskey - the blueberries dominate though. Flavour is dominated by the blueberries, bringing to mind a boozy blueberry muffin. The whiskey is not that apparent - smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with an extremely high astringency on the finish. Very bizarre, unlike anything I've tasted. Oddly drinkable, though not the most enjoyable. Not bad.
