Cellarmaker Brewing is proud to present to you our first bottled beer, Jezebel. This Brettanomyces Drei saison is rich with aromas of pineapple and citrus, as well as dried stonefruit. The flavor has a juicy vinous quality with a peppery, dry finish from the rye malt. This ale is bottle conditioned and will continue to positively develop over the next few years if stored properly.

Pours a bright, medium shade of gold. Light haze settles out after a minute, leaving pretty good clarity. White head. Fine foam. Decent retention, some lacing. Aroma is fruity saison flavors with a light funk and some mild malt character. Background of fresh grain. Vinous. Mild vanilla. A bit perfumey in a good way - I’m an awesome writer. Lime peel. Light medicinal note that actually works quite well. Honey. Floral flavors. Hard to describe but quite nice. Taste starts with light pale malt sweetness, a smooth sugary note. Very mild bitterness. Light dusty flavor. Honey and farmhouse funk. Normal carbonation. Smoother than expected. Just a bit more body than most funky saisons. Interesting contrast between the light fruity sweetness, funk and dusty bitterness. I think this will be even better with a bit more time in the bottle.

On tap at Cellarmaker, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Nose brings out Belgian yeast, some rustic farmhouse notes, but not really any brett character. Flavour reveals notes of floral hops, Belgian yeast, some fruitiness, and even a touch of sweetness, finishing on notes of fruity biscuity malt. Not really the brett bomb I was hoping for. Perhaps this needs some age on it for the brett to take hold. Still, very enjoyable saison for what it is.
