With this in mind we decided to pay tribute to our long standing Piper’s Pale Ale and ramped up the recipe to create a big, bold and robust beer. Deep brown,lasting beige head.Vague nose of carmel & brown sugar.Light malt palate,mild alcohol heat,vague dark fruit notes.Light hop finish. Like many "anniversary" beers, this is a dud, ordinary at best. Couldn’t there be a better effort for a 30 yr anniversary ?

22 oz. bottle, pours an opaque deep dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out earthy notes, some body odour, and a weird vegetal quality. Flavour is a bit bizarre, with similar notes mentioned in the aroma - I'm on the fence about whether I think this is a disaster or fairly acceptable impie red. After a bit, it becomes quite decent. Not sure if this is what they were going for - strange beast.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, 8.5% ABV
Dark brown color with red hue, compact beige head. Mild aroma of caramel, sucre candi, and a hint of dark fruits. Good body strength; the mouthfeel is round and soft; nice notes of caramelized sugars, and almost a smoke touch; it reminds me of Steinbier; very light traces of fruity esters; good bitterness level.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Copper brown with beige head. Aroma has a kick of caramel with some vegetables and mild ripe red fruit. Flavour definitely doesn’t blend well though. I thought the aroma was decent, but the taste was not... What happened to "true craftsmanship and quality?"
