Our take on a German style alt bier. Alt designates “old” which means an ale brewed and aged for extended conditioning to take on characteristics of a lager. Our take on alt bier is to amp up the hop profile to help celebrate the eastern Washington hop growing area and the impact on the world brewing community. The hops include Tettnanger and Perle.

Taster flight at White Blluffs. Caramel colored pour, small off-white head. Malty aroma, sweet, nutty. Taste is toffee, malty, sweet. Smooth but a bit sweet for my tastes.

Draft pour pint enjoyed at Hop and Hound. A clean and clear copper pour, almost a ruby tint to it. Bold malt flavor, not really rich or sweet in any way. Hinted apple like fruit character. Really crisp malt flavor. Smooth and easy drinking alt. I wish this style was more common around here.

Sample at GABF 10/07/2017, thanks to my bro for assistance with note-taking. Slightly hazy bronze-amber color with a medium bone white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lace. Roast malt, hops and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and earthy hop. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at Shrub Steppe, pours a hazy amber orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt and German lager yeast. Flavour is quite robust for the style, with a solid hopping, followed by biscuity malt and toasted caramel. Authentic enough and well-balanced. Solid.
