Basic Not Boring

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company in Gilbert, Arizona, United States 🇺🇸

  Golden / Blonde Ale Special
Score
6.91
ABV: 4.8% IBU: - Ticks: 2
This is a beer for brewers and those blue collar folks who desire a cold one after a 12hr shift. You won’t find in a dive bar as the "long neck special" though. Subtle characteristics of pilsner malt, local Sonoran white wheat and herbal noble hops shine through to give it just enough complexity to not be considered your typical light beer. Hops include Mandarina Bavaria, Opal and Sylva.

On tap at Arizona Wilderness, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma is pretty pungent, with spicy hops, wheat and biscuity malt. Flavour is rather abrasive, with lots of spicy hops, pungent earthy, dirty notes, and biscuity malt. Harsh bitter astringency on the finish. Not a big fan.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a totally opaque glowing deep gold body that supports a nice near white head of foam. Great looking and nutritious looking beer. The aroma offers up lemon zest, apricot, peach and pineapple with a soft earthy wheat note in the background. The taste delivers a pleasing hoppy bite that gets into being a little acidic with a lemon lime like sensation. Just beyond the modest yet sharp acidic hop like bitterness are juicy notes of peach, pineapple and apricot that provide terrific balance and depth. Into the finish I get a soft sort of wheat like note and then some semi bright tangerine citrus hoppiness. This is solid.
