It sounds like a pirate name or rock song, doesn’t it? (Black Stack Fever, anyone? Anyone?) In fact, it’s named in honor of this VERY BIG ROCK that lives just off Cannon Beach. Sitting there, all dark and mysterious. Silently watching us. Judging our volleyball skills and questionable swimsuit choices. Relax. It’s just jealous because unlike you, it will never get to taste creamy, smooth chocolate and coffee notes in this stout. Because, you know, rocks can’t drink.

On tap at Public Coast, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, tart fruits and metallic notes. Flavour is rather tart and metallic, with tart dark fruits, metallic notes and toasted malt. Very light and lacking in body. Pretty lame.
