A bit sweet, truly malty body with a lightly hopped tea-like flavor, and an even dextrinous body, This one is easy to please due to the well rounded and balanced flavor with a pleasant toasted malt character with a modest drying finish. Available all year long.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep glowing copper colored body that supports a thin off white head that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The aroma offers up spicy licorice, malts, thin roasted malts and a nice thin earthy faintly tobacco note. The taste delivers smooth mildly sweet malts, spicy black licorice and then the spices nuance an earthy tobacco sensation. This is a nice full flavored brew that stays nimble with plenty of interest going on.

On tap at Lochiel, pours a dark copper with a beige head. Aroma brings out dry bready malt and a touch of dry toffee. Flavour is quite robust for the style, with bready malt and dry toffee in good balance. Very dry palate, but with good body. Nicely made.
