This Scottish Golden ale has a moderate biscuit and juicy malt character derived from Scottish pale malts, underscored by a light citrus fruit characteristic from the Scottish yeast esters. This brew uses the Willamette hops for a quick mild hop sensation. This Golden was usually made in the old days when there were no available roasted malts or malts to spare for roasting. This brew is fantastic for the spring-time or the summer-time. Available all year long.

32oz crowler pours with a hazy copper body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The mild aroma offers up a slice of bread, a biscuit mineral note and then a blend of apple, strawberry and apricot fruity esters. The taste delivers a mineral biscuit maltiness, a hit of melanoidin like malts and then that sliver of sweet apricot nuanced apple and strawberry. This is an interesting interpretation on the style and I enjoy the deeper flavor and ester to malty balance.

On tap at Lochiel, pours a hazy golden with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and some bready notes. Flavour is pretty bland, with dry toasted malt, some biscuity notes and astringency hoppy bitterness on the finish. Bitter and dry palate. It's okay.
