Sample at the taproom during the "GABF Throw-down at Beryl's!" on 10/05/2017. Black pour with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of bourbon, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, roast malt and bittersweet chocolate and vanilla. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Snifter at the brewery - this beer is heavy on bourbon - like, really heavy - the base that comes through is mildly oxidized, with some chocolate and coffee - barrel has added toasty oak, vanilla, cinnamon, vaguely tannic character - raisin and licorice - a lot of depth, actually - finish is all warm woodford reserve bourbon booziness - since bourbon is my jam, I'm totally cool with that - don't drink this if you are not a bourbon drinker.

On tap at Beryl's, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out notes of sludge fudge, chalk, and whiskey barrels. Flavour is very complex, with a complex bourbon barrel character that dominates, with moderate wood, alcohol and medium roast. Bourbon character dominates, with tons of depth. Lovely.
