It has been a long, dry summer with no deliveries from belgiuminabox. Until today. The first beer to be sampled is Boerken, an issue with the cap, it has to go first. My Straffe Hendrik tulip glass gets the duty today. I lift the lid and there is a fortunate release of pressure. A very pleasant scent of dates, brown sugar and dark bread fills the air. The pour is a murky, caramel brown liquid with a thin light tan skim that comes and goes. I take a drink, nothing extraordinary for a Belgian ale but pretty decent. Dark fruit, malt, yeast, something from the field, hay perhaps and biscuit. Only wish the taste could have kept up with the smell.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a murky caramel brown colour with hardly any head and lots of sediment in the glass. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is the same notes with a very slightly tart like finish. Thin bodied with a lively mouthfeel. Nothing special at all. Disappointing.

Huge creamy head. Red brown color, chunks of yeast floating. Pear aroma with malt. Full bodied pear flavor. Malty and a bit yeasty. Just a hint of fruity sourness. A bit alcoholic.
