On tap at Goblet Zagreb. Black coloured, medium sized brown head that went away fast, chocolate, mild spicy and whiff of vanilla in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, light spicy and notes of vanilla with mild smoke. Alcohol noticable and warming.

Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Doesn't hold back on the chili with smoked plum, chili peppers, dark malts, green peppers. Flavour is moderate bittersweet. Body is medium. Smoked plum and chili pepper, this one delivers as promised.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, super dense, creamy, slowly diminishing, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Roasty and chocolately, dark malty, slightly caramel malty, slightly fruity and spicy, minimally smoky aroma, notes of dark chocolate, dark caramel, hints of black pepper, plum, smoked plum, Szechuan pepper, a touch of plum butter. Taste is roasty and slightly chocolately, minimally ashy, dark malty, slightly caramel malty, slightly fruity and rather spicy, notes of black pepper, Szechuan pepper, smoked chili, chipotle, some dark chocolate, a touch of plum, dark caramel, some residual sweetness; slightly accumulating spiciness, well hidden alcohol. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying, also minimally pungent palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation. Nice composition, quite spicy but not overdone, maybe a tad too ashy in the middle part; I wouldn't mind some more (non-smoked) plum as well. Not exactly highly drinkable, but kind of addictive in terms of makes you immediately go for the next sip; what is probably due to the spicy part you erroneously want to quench with the blamable liquid - luscious.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black, with a small light brown head. Faint smoke, faint vanilla and some ethanol. Solid roast body, the dried prunes are really coming through in an interesting way, while the chili is really showing in finish. Chocolate as well. Challeging but very interesting. 060324
