In der Tradition oberfränkischer Rauchbiere in und um Bamberg zeichnet sich das Hallerndorfer Rauchbier durch animierende Frische und eleganten Einsatz von Rauchmalz aus. Eine harmonische Verbindung von fruchtigen Malznoten, feiner Hopfenbittere und dezenter Rauch- und Röstaromatik regt zum Weitertrinken an. Mehrfach prämiert beim European Beer Star.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of omhper. Slightly hazy amber golden with a rough, off-white head. Lightly sweet caramel and a tar-like smoke aroma. Medium body with some caramel and very distinct smoke notes. Lightly bitter finish. 021108

Bottled@omhper-post-SBWF-1st-weekend tasting. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is smoked and mildly burnt wooden aroma with some slight fruityness. Flavour is smoke, leather and some mild notes of fruits and bready malts.

Draught at Rittmayer-Keller, Kreuzberg. Dark brown, minimal head. Smoky beechwood aroma. Dry with clean, well rounded mouthfeel. Lightly roasty with good levels of intricate smoke flavour. The malt character could be deeper, but already as it is it is a top effort.

My beer is a totally different label and says 4.9% and does not have Raiterla, just Hallerndorfer Rauchbier (Gold Award 2007). Assume its the same. Hazelnut color, nose of chestnuts, smoked gouda, cherries and apricots. Moderately strong smoke, but a sweet malty backbone. Medium body. Smokier than expect with a lingering smoked chestnut finish. Very pleaseant. Another random beer found in japan.

Bottle. Clear amber brown color with a average good lacing off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, smoked. Flavor is light to moderate sweet with a aftertaste of smoked, average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft.

Amber-chestnut beer with small, yellow-amber head. More perfumed than smoked nose at first, going over in more classical smokey beechwood and smoked ham notes, and parsley. Light smoked & cured ham with a bitterish finish. Gets more and more nutty, with underlying sweetness, as chestnut flour. Rather light in the palate, as if a lot of taste is dissolved in even more springwater. Some slickness. Another good, light Rauch. Thanks, Sebastian!

Bottle (purchased at the brewery): Light amber coloured, small off-white foamy layer; caramel, smoked wood and some hoppy traces in the nose; dry (malty) flavour, quite light bodied; bitter, quite dry and smoked finish. A quite dry, pleasant Rauchbier, a bit too much on the thn side......
