2011-04-25, bottle from Getränke Fritze, Bergtheim, 6-4-6-3-13=32
Beautiful amber color; generous, compact head. The aroma is mild: some wood, roasted chicken. The mouthfeel is quite dry; there is some caramel flavor and a light smoked character; correct bitterness; the final is a bit nutty and dusty. Not as good as last time.

Beautiful amber color; generous head. The smoke in the aroma is very mild; there is some wood, some caramel and an accent on roasted nuts. The body is lean; dry caramel aroma, drier in the front; very nice and subtle roasted ham smoke; it get’s softer and maybe sweeter in the end; correct bitterness. Elegant.

Bottle. 4.9% ABV. A clear, dark golden to light amber beer topped by a diminishing, white head. Smoked, ham-like nose with caramel and a distinct fruity, grassy hoppyness. A bit hard on the carbonation, medium body and semi-dry. Caramel, smoked ham and a pleasant bitterness in the flavor. Nice fruity, piney bitterness in the end. Overall, not in the same league as the Schlenkerla beers, but sure a decent and tasteful beer. 110624

The bottle looks not so good, I dont like that big award on the front-label. The beer in the glass dark brown, nice head. Starts quite smoky-malty, not too dry, also a bit spicy like christmas spices. Finish well balanced, mild, not too smoky. Quite drinkable. Not bad!

Rather gaudy swingtop bottle, they seem to be proud of their three European beer star wins. Pors red with low carbonation and a nice off-white lacing head. Nutty smoke aroma. Mellow mouthfeel, low on carbonation, but the bottle was losing pressure before I opened it it seems. chewy. Roasted entry, elegant smokyness layers on top, bacon, some umami in the back of the throat, strangely enough I keep thinking about boiled eggs. Light beechwood note stays on the palate. Not bad at all.

tap at mikkeller bar, cph. clear brown, smooth white head. aroma is faint smoked, quite mild. flavor is smoke, dark caramel, sweet malts, faint brown sugar. not that much smoke in this one, but it works well with the beer, which presents itself well balanced.
