Poured up on tap at TBBC into a dimpled mug and with a clear copper body with gold hues supporting an off white head. The aroma wasn’t focused too well in the hugely wide mouthed dimpled mug but I ended up noticing mild to faint levels of leafy herbal hops, ribbons of spicy hops, sweet maltiness and tired buttery yeast. This is the first beer of the day for me and I get pleasing smooth flavor right from the start with malt sweetness, firm loads of grapefruit and tangelo like citrus hop, spicy hops and a good deal of pine hops too. There are a few moments around midway where a touch of sweet light skinned fruit esteriness and just a quick pulse of buttery diacetyl make their presence known. Into the finish the citrus and pine and lesser notes of spicy hops flow straight into full boil hop addition bittering hops and those notes linger on and on into the after taste. Solid flavor and bittering hops for this IIPA to go along with a modest booziness for this big ABV offering. The yummy hoppiness helps me forget about the tired yeast notes. This is YUM.
