I’m savoring this brew as rating number 4,000.

I have wanted to try this for years and years now and this has been made possible by the uber generous Boise crew. Big thanks BuckeyeBoy (thanks Jeremy!) and of course my Dr. ditmier, as well as inflatablehair and JohnGalt1. The Boise crew is amazing.

It pours deep mahogany with fudge like hues, deep ruby edges and a nice mocha head. The aroma is bold with burnt toffee, thick, deep and rich dark fruity esters, fudge brownie and black strap molasses. I love the toffee - molasses biased in the nose. The taste is similar with burnt toffee, nice and rich dark fruity esters like prunes and berries to go along with a bit of a honey sensation. Into midway and rolling into the finish it picks up yummy chocolate and fudge. Awesome brew.

Growler from Indiana_Red: Pours a dark brown, near black with a large tanned head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, and hints of the high ABV. Tastes off dark fruits, toasted malt, coffee, and light bittersweet cocoa. Nice lingering and warming finish.

On Tap at the Brewpub. Pitch black and viscous. Modest tan head and coarse sheeting lacing. Dark roasted malts in the aroma along with sweet pitted fruit and purple grapes. Thick oily palate and modest carvonation propels the malty sweetness over the toungue. Sweet daek roast flavors with remaekably little balancing bitterness. This its only drawback, minor as it may be. Finish is quick and soft. Only a slight bitter trailer. Glad to have finally had this one. Lives up to the hype.

Sampled at the RBSG ’06. Black with a tan head. Complex sweet aroma with loads of roasted malts balancing out the caramel. Solid hop bitterness in the flavor that finishes with a dry palate. Alcohol that is well hidden.
