Cask dispensed at CASK Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London on 10th October 2014. Ruby-to-black with loose, pale tan foam. Roasty malts and hop zest in aroma. Richly roasty in-mouth with tangy citrus notes and a hint of smoke. A long-lasting, satisfying hoppy, roasty finish. Engaging texture and plenty of body. Superb.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - a hint of orange but chocolate and malt is dominant. Taste - more of the same really. Chocolate orange going on mostly. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Some malt astringency but in ok measure. Overall - decent example but prefer the style to go slightly more in the ipa direction. This is very much in the stout side.

(Cask at Craft Clapham, London, 12 Apr 2014) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Foamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and pine needles. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, roasted malt, black rye bread, pine needles and a balanced piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced black IPA. Nice one.

Cask at the Walsall CAMRA Beer Festival 2014. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a bubbly light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt grassy hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a watery grass nettle hop light barnyard, toothpaste palate and a long bitter finish. Lots going on and a really great beer.

Cask at the Lyric, Soho - big thanks to agent Paolo of the Londres bureau of CDA for putting me onto this one, I was there 61 minutes after the call, 19/11/13. Light black with a good sized head of tan bubbleage. Nose is light roast, pine needle, jammy berry fruits, light tropicals, earthy cocoa powder - ticks all the CDA aroma boxes. Taste comprises earthy hops, pine tingles, Ribena berries, mineral bite, light roast, faint cocoa. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light roast and moderate hop bitterness at the reckoning. Decent CDA.
