Named after the ethereal song by the one and only Deftones, Phantom Bride IPA is a blend of Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic hops delicately balanced for the perfectly drinkable mix of citrus and hoppy goodness. A truly original Deftones/ Belching Beaver collaboration envisioned by Chino Moreno and skillfully crafted by Thomas Peters. Sit back, put on your headphones and drink away.

Pours a clear, golden yellow, with pretty much no head. Aroma is sweet, grassy, and a bit dank. Some citrus there, perhaps. Flavor is grassy, biscuit-malt, with citrus and a touch of sharp, pine/spruce hops in the finish. Pretty straightforward, old-school IPA.

473ml can. Pours golden with a slight haze, white head. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, pine and peach. Taste is fruity, tropical, pine, peach, mango, fairly low bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Nice one. One complaint: no canned on date or BBD on the can, seriously poor form in this day and age, I have no idea how fresh this was, but thankfully it tasted good to me.

Really good. Really big among beer bars in Japan, funnily enough.

Can from Keg n Cork Edmonton. Lightly hazed amber under a one finger frothy white head that fades slowly and leaves tight lace. Nose is bright pine, citrus and tropical fruit with some light bread. Flavour follows with a light+ malt sweetness under a medium+ bitterness from grapefruit, pineapple, mango, pine, and some peach. Mouth is medium oily with average carbonation and a long bitter finish. Well balanced. 8+/4/7+/4/17

473 ml can. Pours a bright gold/amber with light head. Aromas of grassy pine, full dry fruit and toasted malts. Flavors of dry citrus, more grassy pine and wheaty malts. Okay, but so many beers like this.

Can at the Dok Kaew House Bar, Bangkok. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, mineral, light citrus fruit hop. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, light bitter with a crisp fresh, watery, light toffee caramel malt, light fruit, light dry hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average to soft carbonation. Donβt know what the fuss is about. This was ok, but not deserving of some of the lofty ratings on here.

Can from Bottle Baron. Hazy pale golden body with a few sediment flecks beneath a fluffy white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of waxed lemon and tinned peach. Flavour of grapefruit peel and Jelly Babies. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Artificially sweet with a firm bitterness - itβs ok but I didnβt love it.
