Tis the season for all the finest Germanic amber lagers. This crisp, malty, and boldly-hopped, mahagony Altbier is made in the Düsseldorf "Sticke" style. This "secret" version of the Altbier refers to the old tales of Brewers adding extra malt on the sly to increase the alcohol of the finished brew. The end result of this sneaky technique is a beer that's a little less traditional, but somehow more historically interesting. This Altbier still sits comfortably at 6.4%ABV making it a refreshing and session-ready choice. Made with a nod to history, but named as a nod to our modern world of copy-pasta TPS reports. G'suffa!

On tap at Explorium - Milwaukee, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma is messed up theres some kind of infection here I cant quite place (diacetyl, butyric? Because its a scotch ale, Im having trouble placing it). I cant believe Im going to take a sip Flavour is almost as bad, with bitter caramelthat must be diacetyland a dry, astringent finish. This is big time messed up.
